Il transload tira fuori la merce dal container marittimo e la mette su un semirimorchio nazionale. Il container torna al porto vuoto e in anticipo, e questo chiude il per diem, e la tratta lunga nell'entroterra smette di pagare tariffe da container e da chassis.
Per tutto quello che percorre una distanza seria di solito è la soluzione più conveniente, e con largo margine. È anche la cosa più utile che possiamo suggerirle su una richiesta arrivata scritta come movimento diretto.
Quando conviene, e quando no
Conviene quando la tratta terrestre è lunga, quando il per diem sta già correndo, o quando la merce si può ristivare per riempire un semirimorchio meglio di come riempiva la cassa. Il contenuto di un container da 40 piedi spesso non ha bisogno di un semirimorchio da 53 tutto per sé, e il risparmio nasce dal consolidamento.
Non conviene per una consegna locale corta, dove la movimentazione in più costa più del tempo container che fa risparmiare. Se la merce deve solo cambiare mezzo e ripartire in giornata senza essere stoccata, quello è cross-dock. Se deve restare nella cassa per tutto il tragitto, quello è un movimento di container nell'entroterra.

What does it cost to unload a container?
It depends on one thing more than any other: whether the freight is on pallets or stacked loose on the floor. Palletized is a forklift job. Floor-loaded is a crew by hand, and a floor-loaded 40ft is roughly double a 20ft because it is roughly double the box. The published rates are on the warehousing cost page, and they are separated exactly that way rather than hidden behind one devanning number.
Do you unload floor-loaded containers?
Yes, and it is worth telling us before you book rather than after. Nobody can tell from a packing list whether a container is floor-loaded; if it lists cartons with no pallet count, assume it is, because discovering it at the dock costs an afternoon and a crew.
Can you restack or rework a damaged pallet load?
Yes. Pallet restacking and rework is ordinary work here: a load that shifted, a pallet built too high for the receiver, cartons that need re-squaring and re-wrapping before anyone will take them. It is also the moment to photograph what arrived, while the container it came out of is still in front of us.
Does unloading here get the container back to the line faster?
That is usually the whole reason to do it here. Per diem runs the entire time the box is out of the terminal, including the days it waits at your dock for a crew. Minutes from the port, the container is emptied and returned the same day and the freight waits on your schedule instead of the line's.
Esiste un container da 45 piedi ad altezza standard?
In pratica no. I 20 e i 40 piedi esistono in 8 piedi 6 standard e in 9 piedi 6 high cube, ma il 45 si è standardizzato solo su high cube, ed è per questo che il codice ISO è L5G1: il 5 è l'altezza di 9 piedi 6. Se le quotano un 45, è un high cube. Su un 45 la domanda vera è la larghezza, perché il wide body da 102 pollici è comune sui trade del sud della Florida ed è 7 pollici più largo dentro dell'ISO.
