The run from the port to Hialeah Gardens
Hialeah Gardens is about 18 road miles from PortMiami and roughly 25 from Port Everglades, a same day move from either. The Hialeah rail ramps are only 5 to 8 miles away, so a box that came inland by rail is one of the shortest pulls in the county. Containers to this city run through on a chassis.
Through is the obvious answer at this distance. Handling the freight twice buys nothing when the container can be delivered, emptied and back at the terminal inside a shift. The one reason to strip a box here is that the freight is going somewhere else afterwards, and the warehouse in this city, 120,000 sq ft with over 50 dock doors and five acres of yard, is where that work gets done.
Delivering in Hialeah Gardens
This is western Miami-Dade, off State Road 826 and a few minutes from the Turnpike, a newer warehouse build-out with wider yards and easier turns than the older Hialeah blocks. A receiver still needs a dock or a ground level plan with a forklift, and room for a 40 ft container on a chassis. The warehouse dock here runs 8 to 5 Monday to Friday, first come first served.
Send the container number, the steamship line, the last free day, the delivery address and whether you want a live unload or a drop, and the appointment gets set against your free days rather than after they have run out.
Where the industry is
Hialeah Gardens is a small city, 3.67 square miles, bordered by Hialeah on the east and the north and by Medley to the southwest. Its industry sits mostly in the northwest district, whose western edge is the Turnpike. West Okeechobee Road, US 27, is the main artery and most of the city's western boundary, with industrial and commercial zones on or near it.
Most of the non-residential buildings are warehouses and workshops: shipping and moving companies, cement, roofing and construction firms, truck and trailer dealers, and food producers and exporters. Your delivery shares Okeechobee Road with all of them, so an early appointment is worth asking for.

平板车
最常用的敞开式平板，有48英尺和53英尺两种。可以从侧面、上方或者后面装货，货物高度超过8英尺6英寸就开始需要许可。
step deck 凹板车

低平板车（lowboy）
台面最低的一种挂车，用来运又高又重的机械。凹槽较短，所以限制通常是长度而不是重量。
Piggyback forklift
A rough-terrain forklift that rides on a mounting kit at the rear of the flatbed and unloads where there is no dock and no site equipment. The freight pays for it twice: in the surcharge and in the payload its weight displaces, which is why it is quoted only where it saves more than it costs.

冷藏挂车
控温厢式挂车，有48英尺和53英尺两种。冷藏集装箱的货换装之后继续走内陆段，换的就是这种车。

Can freight be transloaded in Hialeah Gardens instead of delivered in the box?
Yes, and this is the city where that happens. The warehouse here runs 120,000 sq ft with over 50 dock doors and five acres of yard, about 18 road miles from PortMiami and 5 to 8 from the Hialeah rail ramps. The freight comes out of the container onto a trailer, the empty goes back to the line, and the inland leg stops paying container rates. It earns its keep when the freight is moving on afterwards.
Where is the industrial part of Hialeah Gardens?
Mostly in the northwest district, along West Okeechobee Road (US 27) with the Turnpike on its western edge. That is where the warehouses, workshops, cement and construction firms and food exporters are, and where most container deliveries in the city end up. The warehouse we run out of is in Hialeah Gardens too, so a box for this city is one of the shortest moves we make.
Will a 45 ft container fit at a Hialeah Gardens dock?
More often than in the older parts of the county. These streets were laid out later, so the yards are wider and the turns easier, and 45 ft boxes are routine on this lane. That is the city rather than your particular gate, so confirm the approach and the depth of the apron in front of your door before the box is pulled, especially if there are trailers parked in it.
