护航不是一种东西
为宽度在前后带路的护航车是最常见的一种。高杆车不一样：它顶着一根和货同高的杆子，专门开在前面，去找出那根电线或者那座桥，否则它们会以更难看的方式把卡车拦下来。有些路线和有些辖区在这两者之上还要求警车护送。

什么样的货需要许可？
在佛罗里达，大致上，宽超过8英尺6英寸、高超过13英尺6英寸、总重超过80,000磅，或者挂车加货合起来超出法定长度，就需要。这些只是门槛线，剩下的由路线决定：一座桥或者一根低垂的电线，能让一票本来合法的货也必须办许可。
什么时候需要护航？
护航车，也就是引导车（pilot car），随着货变宽、变高或者变长而加进来。宽度是最常见的触发条件；高度会用上高杆车，开在卡车前面探净空；某些路线或某些辖区还会要求警车护送。您需要哪几种，报价的时候我们就告诉您，不会事后才说。
许可由谁去办？
我们办。许可申请、路线勘查和护航预订都包含在报价里，所以您面对的是一个数字、一个联系人，而不是三家供应商和一个协调难题。
许可要办多久？
常规的州许可通常很快。需要路线勘查、桥梁分析或者跨多个辖区的会更久，superload（超级大件）还要更久。尺寸早点给我们，许可就不会成为拖住这票货的那一环。
报一票超限运输，你们需要我提供什么？
准确的尺寸和重量：长、宽、高和总重，加上在哪里提货、送到哪里。靠猜的尺寸，是超限报价最后不准的头号原因。
What counts as an oversize load?
Anything past legal width, height, length or weight, and the thresholds decide it rather than the description. Florida's height limit is 13 feet 6 inches, and width, length and gross weight each carry their own line. Below all of them the job is ordinary flatbed work. Above any one of them it becomes permitted, routed and sometimes escorted, and the price changes shape with it. Send measured dimensions rather than catalogue ones, because the skid, the crate or the pallet underneath counts toward the total.
Does a Florida oversize permit let me use the PortMiami Tunnel?
No. A permit tells you what you are allowed to move on the road. It does not open the tunnel, which is closed to oversized loads and to placarded hazmat regardless of what paperwork the load is carrying. The way out of PortMiami for an over-dimensional piece runs over the Port Boulevard bridge and through downtown instead. The two get confused often enough that loads turn up expecting the short way out, which is why the route is planned around the bridge from the start.
