免堆期最后一天是今天还是明天？
计时表在港口跑，不在公路上跑
滞港费（demurrage）从免堆期最后一天（last free day）的次日开始在码头计算，不管这票货是走五英里还是五百英里。我们先把集装箱提前提箱（pre-pull）到自己的堆场，等您准备好再发往 Naples，而不是让箱子留在码头一边产生费用，一边等收货人腾出月台。

The run from the port to Naples
Naples is about 110 road miles from PortMiami, straight west across Alligator Alley on I-75, and it is the closest of the southwest Florida cities. The move is a same day one and the container goes through on a chassis.
At this distance through is clearly right. The box is pulled, driven across, unloaded live and brought home the same day, so the freight is handled once and the empty is not sitting out of the port overnight. Transloading only starts to pay when the container would otherwise travel for days, and 110 miles across the Alley is not that.
Delivering in Naples
Naples is the seat of Collier County, on I-75 at the western end of the Alley with Naples Municipal Airport inside the city. A lot of the freight coming here is construction and finish material, which means as much open deck work as container work, and job site deliveries rather than warehouse ones. A job site needs firm ground, room for a 40 ft box on a chassis and someone with a machine to take the load off.
Send the container number, the steamship line, the last free day, the delivery address and whether the unload is live or a drop. If it is a job site rather than a dock, say so up front so the right equipment comes.

平板车
最常用的敞开式平板，有48英尺和53英尺两种。可以从侧面、上方或者后面装货，货物高度超过8英尺6英寸就开始需要许可。
step deck 凹板车
主台板下沉，比普通平板车多出大约18英寸的合法装载高度。也叫 drop deck。
double drop 双下沉平板车
两段高台板之间是固定的凹槽，用来装高大件，且这类货不需要自己开上车。
低平板车（lowboy）
台面最低的一种挂车，用来运又高又重的机械。凹槽较短，所以限制通常是长度而不是重量。
Piggyback forklift
A rough-terrain forklift that rides on a mounting kit at the rear of the flatbed and unloads where there is no dock and no site equipment. The freight pays for it twice: in the surcharge and in the payload its weight displaces, which is why it is quoted only where it saves more than it costs.

车架上一套可滑动的篷布，货物像装平板车一样从侧面装，运输时又像厢车一样有覆盖。不用请人打篷布，也没有雨天风险。
厢式挂车
封闭式、托盘化货物，有48英尺和53英尺两种。凡是从集装箱换装出来、继续走内陆段的货，默认就用它。
冷藏挂车
控温厢式挂车，有48英尺和53英尺两种。冷藏集装箱的货换装之后继续走内陆段，换的就是这种车。
离开 Hialeah Gardens 之前
Hialeah Gardens 一座仓库，超过 50 个装卸门
所有需要从底盘车上卸下来的作业都在这里完成，在 Hialeah Gardens，离各港口只有几分钟车程，货物在发往任何地方之前先经过这里。换装转运（transload）、越库（cross-dock）、仓储，或者以您的名义收货和发货。 像 Naples 这样的短途线路，用到仓库通常是因为收货人没有装卸月台，而不是出于成本考虑。

Can a container be delivered to a Naples job site rather than a warehouse?
Yes, with the ground and the equipment to match. A tractor with a 40 ft box on a chassis needs firm level ground and a straight way in and out, and the freight has to come off at truck bed height with a forklift or a machine already standing there. Soft fill and a tight turn are what stop these deliveries, not the 110 miles from Miami.
Is open deck or a container better for building material going to Naples?
It depends on how the material arrived and what shape it is. If it shipped in an ocean container, the box can run through to Naples on a chassis in a day. If it is long, tall or awkward, an open deck trailer handles it far better, because the load can be strapped and tarped instead of squeezed through a container door. Send the dimensions and the weight and you get told which.
