免堆期最后一天是今天还是明天？
计时表在港口跑，不在公路上跑
滞港费（demurrage）从免堆期最后一天（last free day）的次日开始在码头计算，不管这票货是走五英里还是五百英里。我们先把集装箱提前提箱（pre-pull）到自己的堆场，等您准备好再发往 Medley，而不是让箱子留在码头一边产生费用，一边等收货人腾出月台。

The run from the port to Medley
Most Medley containers come off PortMiami, and some off the Hialeah rail ramps a few minutes north. It is about 15 road miles either way, a same day move, and the box goes through on a chassis rather than being handled twice. At that distance a transload would cost you a second touch of the freight and buy nothing back.
Through means the container itself arrives at your door on a chassis, gets unloaded while the driver waits or gets dropped if you have the room, and the empty goes straight back to the terminal or on to the street turn it is due at. Same day return is the whole point of a lane this short: the per diem clock barely gets going.
Delivering in Medley
Medley sits in Miami-Dade along the Okeechobee Road and NW 74th Street corridor, minutes from the Hialeah rail ramps, with State Road 826 and the Florida Turnpike both on its edge. A receiver needs room for a 40 ft box on a chassis, which is roughly seventy feet of vehicle that has to get in and back out, and either a dock or a forklift and a firm ground level plan.
Tell us whether the site is first come or appointment only, and send the container number, the steamship line, the last free day, the delivery address and whether you want a live unload or a drop. That is enough to quote it and put it on a day.
A town built for freight
Medley is an industrial town first. It has fewer than 1,000 residents and about 1,800 businesses, and on a weekday, once workers and visitors are counted, about 60,000 people are in town. Most of its 5.98 square miles is zoned for light manufacturing, with a smaller heavy manufacturing tract.
The Florida East Coast Railway's freight line runs through it and serves businesses along the tracks, and FEC's southern corporate office and its Beacon Station warehouse complex are here. NW 74th Street through the town was fully rebuilt by FDOT east of the Palmetto, with new signals and drainage, finished in June 2024.
Water on two sides
The Miami Canal is the town's border with Hialeah Gardens and Hialeah, and FEMA puts about half of Medley in special flood hazard areas. The ground is flat and low, and the canals can back up in heavy rain.
That matters for a drop. A container left in a yard near a canal in the rainy season sits on ground that can flood, so in summer a live unload, or a drop on the higher part of the lot, is the safer plan.

平板车
最常用的敞开式平板，有48英尺和53英尺两种。可以从侧面、上方或者后面装货，货物高度超过8英尺6英寸就开始需要许可。
step deck 凹板车
主台板下沉，比普通平板车多出大约18英寸的合法装载高度。也叫 drop deck。
double drop 双下沉平板车
两段高台板之间是固定的凹槽，用来装高大件，且这类货不需要自己开上车。
低平板车（lowboy）
台面最低的一种挂车，用来运又高又重的机械。凹槽较短，所以限制通常是长度而不是重量。
Piggyback forklift
A rough-terrain forklift that rides on a mounting kit at the rear of the flatbed and unloads where there is no dock and no site equipment. The freight pays for it twice: in the surcharge and in the payload its weight displaces, which is why it is quoted only where it saves more than it costs.

厢式挂车
封闭式、托盘化货物，有48英尺和53英尺两种。凡是从集装箱换装出来、继续走内陆段的货，默认就用它。
冷藏挂车
控温厢式挂车，有48英尺和53英尺两种。冷藏集装箱的货换装之后继续走内陆段，换的就是这种车。

Hialeah Gardens 一座仓库，超过 50 个装卸门
所有需要从底盘车上卸下来的作业都在这里完成，在 Hialeah Gardens，离各港口只有几分钟车程，货物在发往任何地方之前先经过这里。换装转运（transload）、越库（cross-dock）、仓储，或者以您的名义收货和发货。 像 Medley 这样的短途线路，用到仓库通常是因为收货人没有装卸月台，而不是出于成本考虑。

Is a Medley delivery a same day turn?
Yes on most days. It is about 15 road miles from PortMiami, so the box can be pulled, delivered, unloaded and the empty returned inside one shift. What stretches it is the terminal appointment and the gate queue, not the drive. If your dock is first come and busy, say so when you book, because a long wait at your end is the one thing that pushes the empty return to the next morning.
Can an overweight container be delivered in Medley?
Usually, and the short distance is why. An overweight box needs a permitted route and the right chassis, and 15 miles from PortMiami keeps that far simpler than sending the same load up the state. Send the actual gross weight on the container rather than the commercial invoice weight, and the routing gets settled before the box is pulled instead of after a scale says no.
