One warehouse, over 50 dock doors, a short run from the ports
Short and long-term storage close enough to the ports that a pre-pull does not turn into a cross-county trip. Billed by the day or by the pallet, so a week of overflow does not require a lease negotiation.
This is the service that makes the others work. A pre-pull needs somewhere to put the container, a transload needs somewhere to stage the freight, and a delayed delivery needs somewhere that is not the back of a truck accruing detention.
Storage is not the same as someone handling it
Storage means the freight sits safely and comes back out when you ask. If you also want it received under your name, counted, checked against your paperwork and shipped out on your instruction, that is shipping and receiving, and it is a different job.
Tell us roughly how long and roughly how much space. Pallet count and dwell time are what we price on, and a good estimate is more useful than a precise guess.
By the pallet and by the day, not by the square foot and by the year
A lease prices space. It asks how many square feet you want and for how many years, and it charges for them whether they are full or empty. Storage here prices freight instead: how many pallets, for how many days, plus the handling to get them in and back out again. For a business with a season, an overflow, or a single shipment that landed early, those are completely different propositions.
It also means the number moves with the actual need. Twelve pallets for three weeks is a sentence somebody can price. The same twelve pallets under a lease is a conversation about a unit you will half fill for a year. Pallet count and dwell time are what a quote gets built from, so a good estimate of both is more useful than a precise guess at square footage.
What short-term storage is actually used for
Overflow, most often. A container lands before the season starts, a warehouse is already full, or a promotion ships in one piece and sells over three months. Pre-pull is the next most common: a box collected before the last free day has to go somewhere, and that somewhere is five acres of yard and a building with over 50 dock doors rather than the back of a truck accruing detention.
Retail holds are the third. A chain will not accept a delivery before its window, so the freight waits somewhere that is not a trailer. And then there is the plain case of a delivery that slipped: the consignee moved the date, and what the freight needs is a fortnight of somewhere safe rather than a lease and a forklift.
How the freight leaves again
On whatever fits it. A few pallets go out LTL. A full load goes out as a truckload, out of South Florida to any of the 48 states. Freight that arrived in a container and is going back into one leaves as drayage, from the same operation that brought it in, which is the reason to store it here rather than somewhere that only sells space.
Getting it out is an ordinary dock job: 8 to 5 Monday to Friday, first come first served with no appointment system, live dry vans by 3pm for same-day loading, drops until 4pm, and anything released by 4pm ships the same day. Storage on its own means the freight sits safely and comes back when you ask. Anything more hands-on than that is a different job with a different name.

What does it cost to unload a container?
It depends on one thing more than any other: whether the freight is on pallets or stacked loose on the floor. Palletized is a forklift job. Floor-loaded is a crew by hand, and a floor-loaded 40ft is roughly double a 20ft because it is roughly double the box. The published rates are on the warehousing cost page, and they are separated exactly that way rather than hidden behind one devanning number.
Do you unload floor-loaded containers?
Yes, and it is worth telling us before you book rather than after. Nobody can tell from a packing list whether a container is floor-loaded; if it lists cartons with no pallet count, assume it is, because discovering it at the dock costs an afternoon and a crew.
Can you restack or rework a damaged pallet load?
Yes. Pallet restacking and rework is ordinary work here: a load that shifted, a pallet built too high for the receiver, cartons that need re-squaring and re-wrapping before anyone will take them. It is also the moment to photograph what arrived, while the container it came out of is still in front of us.
Does unloading here get the container back to the line faster?
That is usually the whole reason to do it here. Per diem runs the entire time the box is out of the terminal, including the days it waits at your dock for a crew. Minutes from the port, the container is emptied and returned the same day and the freight waits on your schedule instead of the line's.
Is there a 45ft standard height container?
No, not in practice. 20ft and 40ft boxes come in both 8ft 6in standard and 9ft 6in high cube, but the 45 standardised on high cube only, which is why its ISO code is L5G1: the 5 is the 9ft 6in height. If someone quotes you a 45, it is a high cube. The real question on a 45 is the width, because the 102in wide body is common on the South Florida trades and it is 7in wider inside than the ISO box.
How do I get a rate?
Send the lane, the equipment, the container size and the port, and we come back with a number. Quotes and dispatch run 24 hours a day at quotes@dariaslogistics.com.
